The challenge of primary health care in rural NSW

We heard from the Liverpool Plains community that accessing primary health services, such as GPs and allied health services, can be a challenge.

Many health services require patients to see a GP doctor before any further care can happen, such as getting a referral prior to seeing a specialist, or getting repeat prescriptions for hormonal contraception. When waitlists to see a GP in rural areas like Quirindi and Werris Creek are long, access to other services can bottleneck.
