Health services survey an important first step to plan for local healthcare needs

28 April 2025

Residents of Leeton Shire are encouraged to share their experiences of access to local health services through a health services survey.

The Leeton Shire Health Services survey will help identify local priorities and any barriers to accessing health services in Leeton Shire. This includes general practices, public health services, allied health, mental health, and Aboriginal health services.

The anonymous health services survey is open to all residents over the age of 15 and seeks to capture a broad range of perspectives from people of all ages and backgrounds.

You can find the survey at https://rdn.engagementhub.com.au/leeton. Residents may also see posts on social media and posters on display around Leeton Shire with a link to the survey. Printed survey forms are available at Leeton Shire Council and Leeton Shire Library.

The health services survey is being supported by Leeton Shire Council, Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network, Leeton and District Local Aboriginal Lands Council, and Rural Doctors Network.

The initiative is part of the Collaborative Care program, a community-centred program that addresses healthcare needs in rural NSW. The program was developed by Rural Doctors Network and expanded this year to include Leeton Shire with support from the NSW Ministry of Health.

"Access to good health services remains a high priority for residents of Leeton Shire. We strongly encourage as many people as possible to complete this important survey," said Acting Mayor, Cr Michael Kidd. “The more feedback we get, the greater chance of our issues being heard and properly understood.”

Maryann Iannelli is the community project officer for the Collaborative Care program in Leeton and says the survey will help identify healthcare priorities.

"The survey will help us identify any obstacles that may prevent Leeton Shire residents from accessing the care they need," Mrs Iannelli said.

The health services survey opened on Monday 28th April 2025 and will remain open until Sunday 18th May 2025.
