What is Accidental Counsellor Training?
An Accidental Counsellor workshop is training which equips participants with the skills and confidence to recognise when someone is experiencing distress or crisis, respond with empathy and appropriate support, and refer them to professional help and support services.
If you are someone who has found themselves in a situation where you need to provide support to a customer, client, colleague, friend, family member, or stranger in distress, this training is for you!
Why bring Accidental Counsellor Training to Wee Waa?
The Wee Waa community told us that there is community wide concern about mental health and support for people in times of crisis.
Many in the community also shared times when they have been an "accidental counsellor," providing impromptu support for friends, clients, customers, or strangers when that person needed it.
And that's where Lifeline Accidental Counsellor training comes in. This training gives our Wee Waa community members and service providers the skills they need to support their peers.
