The Collaborative Care Program in the Lachlan Valley (Parkes, Forbes and Condobolin) focused on the development of the health workforce across the region and opportunities to coordinate services.
The project brought stakeholders together from the three communities to identify primary health needs and work in a co-design process to come up with solutions to improve access to primary health care. This included a targeted GP recruitment campaign to support models of care in these towns.
Prof. Ruth Stewart, National Rural Health Commissioner (2020-24), led a combined workshop with representatives from each of the three towns, exploring ways of working together to coordinate services and attract more health professionals.
