Eden, these are your chosen community projects!

Four local health and wellbeing projects have been selected for funding through the Eden Collaborative Care Small Grants initiative, following community voting. These community-inspired projects will benefit children, youth and older people, with initiatives focused on water safety, strengthening wellbeing and social connection.

  • Support dog for Eden Marine High School

We are introducing a support dog as part of the Eden Marine High School community project for students with additional needs. The presence of a support dog will help improve student wellbeing, provide emotional support, and foster an inclusive school environment. Many students at Eden Marine High School experience anxiety, sensory processing challenges, and social difficulties, and having a specially trained support dog will offer a calming influence and assist with emotional regulation.

  • Swim, Connect & Belong

Swim, Connect & Belong is a free community program that will provide two Water Confidence Clinics and a School Swimming Carnival Confidence Clinic for local children, with free pool entry for all participants. Through qualified coaching, community BBQs and a welcoming environment, the program will help children build confidence in the water, improve their wellbeing and strengthen connections with other local families.

  • Eden Active Seniors: Gentle Pambula River Paddling

The Eden Active Seniors program offers local retirees a fully funded, accessible way to explore the beautiful Pambula River. Featuring door-to-door minibus transport from Eden, gentle one-way paddling with the tide, and a relaxed riverbank morning tea, this program gives two separate groups of 12 local seniors a chance to boost their physical health and build community connections on the water.

  • Bloom Eden

Mahjong and dumplings or an op shop takeover? Make an art trail or create a geocache hunt? Bloom Eden is a social connection project where teens co-design adventures to help them develop healthy relationships, hobbies and habits that will support them to bloom where they are planted and grow into confident, connected, and contributing adults.

Quick Poll

What are you hoping these projects will bring to the Eden community?

Through the Eden Collaborative Care project, we offered small grants of up to $5,000 to local community groups and organisations for new ideas that help improve the health and wellbeing of people in Eden. These grants will help local people to take the lead in creating initiatives that make others feel healthier and more connected to their community.
